I have an extension that has a forward button. When I set the extension to forward, the light comes on, but the extension still rings and the extensions voicemail gets the call. The call does not forward. What could I be overlooking? this is a Merlin Magix, with a 4424D not DL connected.

So you are forwarding to 4509? On an internal forward, the call will be pulled back to the original extension for voicemail, but it shouldn't ring the original phone unless you have it set to simultaneous forward. Then it will ring both the originator and the forward to extension. Is this the case. Does it also ring on x4509?

No, the call never forwards at all. 4509 does not ring and the extension that " SHOULD " forward, does not.. This happens no matter what extension for forward it to..

Is the call coming in via a DID on the PRI (or transferred specifically to the extension via the AA) or is this call going to the POTS line assigned to the user? I see line 828 is assigned to this user.

828 is assigned to extension 4533 and the extension that the call are forwarded to. The calls being transferred are being dialed in from a DID to extension 4533, then the forward button is utilized when no one is at extension 4533. The call "SHOULD then transfer via AA to extension 4543, which auto dials a cell phone. If you call extension 4543 either in house direct extension or DID from outside, it will forward that call to the cell phone. I am trying to get calls from extension 4533 to do the same thing via forwarding to extension 4543... 4543 works as expected.. IT ALWAYS FORWARDS the call to the cell no matter where the call originates either inside or outside.. I do have one more un-assigned trunk ( 827 ).

I think I get what you are trying to do, but forgive me if I am not reading it correct. If I am right, you are adding an extra step to the equation that is not needed. Extension 4533 has remote forward enabled. This means you can forward this phone directly to an outside number (cell phone). So, press forward, then 915555555555# (this assumes you dial 91 + area code for an outside call and 5555555555 is the cell number you want to connect to).

There is no need to forward to another extension to forward it outside the system and in fact that will not work because the system will recognize it is a call from x4533 and not the extension you have it forwarded to so it will not follow the 2nd extension's forward path.

Hopefully that makes sense.

I did that also, first.... The issue seems to be that no matter what I am doing, calls continue to ring thru to extension and do not forward anywhere, even when you see it on the display and the button light is illuminated... The base matter is ext 4533 won't forward anywhere no matter what I do or what the display says including the button light being on? The trick for going to another extension was just a bandaid to hopefully get it to forward... It just won't forward?

Something else that I just noticed, If I push the forward button on the 4424d and dial either more than 4 digits or start with a digit other than in the extension number plan, it quits trying to program the forwarding number, even with autoline select picking the 828 trunk... ( outside line )...

Press Menu and then program, make sure you are really dealing with x4533.

It is as when I dial to another ext or to 4533 it acts as expected. But this is weird, I tried you suggestion again of forwarding directly to the cell and it started to work? I have auto line select set to uses 828. I then used the forward button and dialed 95555555555# and it worked? Forwarding to the cell # was the biggest concern. It seems to work like that? I did not put the 9 in when forwarding as I had already auto selected the outside line. You must need to use the 9 access anyway? Thanks for giving me all the right answers!!! I got it to work!!!!

Yes, on a forward it will always grab system dial tone first even if auto line select is set to an outside line. This is so you can forward to an internal extension if you need to versus an external number. Glad you got it working.
