Using BCM50 & Element Manager:

I have successfully created Speed Dials which allow me to use LN as part of the number to simulate a flash for the PBX (BCM calls this a Link). By issuing the flash, I am able to forward the calls using the call forwarding that Verizon provides instead of grabbing a second line and then doing a 'conference call transfer', thereby taking up two of my lines, making the call quality worse, etc. With the flash, I am able to have Verizon forward the call, ensuring great quality, no use of my lines, etc.

If someone in the office answers the call, they can simply hit the speed dial button and speed dial number. It issues the LN and number and the call is transferred.

I am trying to deal with the call that is not answered -i.e. someone going to a voice mail box. Instead of 363 for voice mail, I tried to enter LN15555555555 as the number in the Fwd No Answer field on the Active Sets page, but it will not accept the LN even though I checked the box for Allow Link on the set capability page.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Well let's look at the call progress. When you have a speed dial button, what must happen before that speed dial button is pressed? A: The call must be answered! You cannot do an LN transfer on a line that's ringing. Now in voicemail you could accomplish this task. Have it answer into a CCR Tree/Trasnfer with a recording of, "please hold while your call is transferred", select LINE 240, then in the number field enter #15555555555. The # will do the LN for you.

DBrewsky thanks for the prompt reply! That makes sense.

OK. I did not mention (and should have - sorry!), that calls are already being answered by my auto attendant. So, if they push a digit, I can do just as you said - great.

However, if a caller punches in an extension and I want to forward that call. Can I have the auto attendant pick back up an extension's calls and then do as you said?

If you don't want allow any callers to dial an extension, then use the Disable DN Dialing feature in the table used to answer the lines. This will force them to choose an option. Otherwise, they will forward to the dialed extension, and unfortuantely you can't use an LN type feature at that point until the call is answered manually.

Basically the CCR is doing what otherwise must be done manually.
