A user has forward unconditional set to their secretary, but with the forwarding of internal calls turned off. They just want calls coming in to their DDI forwarded on.

The problem is that if another user transfers him an external call this is also forwarded to his secretary. He doesn't want these to be forwarded, just calls that came directly in to him.

Does that make any sense?

Is your secretary hitting Transfer then his ext?

What about using the call Park function instead? The caller will be put on hold with hold music while the secretary rings the user to inform him there's a call for him on Park1. User can then just pick the caller off Park1 when they're ready.

Is this any help?

I'll check how the calls are being transferred to him as this may hold the key. Park wouldn't be a bad idea if there's no other solution!

calls can be transferred to him in any way and assuming they are external calls, they go straight to his secretary.

I guess park slots could be used but is there a better way? Is this feature by design? The system is running 4.0

If you have VM Pro his DDI can target a module which can be used to toggle where the call goes, via a shortcode or button.

ACS - IP Office Implement

sadly, it's VM Lite.
It sounds like this is how it should behave though so at least it's not a strange bug.

sounds like they are blind transfering rather than anouncing the call.

If they anounce the call then it will be from the internal extension

Alternativly why not turn DND on and put fwd on busy to the secretary, and add all internal extensions to the dnd exception list

Bit long winded but would the same i think :)

Thanks, VoiceonData. I was just coming round to the same conclusion regarding DND. Especially seeing as you can use wildcards in the DND exception list.

I would have thought they were blind transferring but they insist it doesn't matter either way. I thought I remembered seeing something on here the other day about changes in later software revisions which altered the way transferred external calls were treated. I can't find it but I think like you say that probably also referred to blind transfers.

Why don't you point his line to a group with both he and his secratary in it. Put a login button on both phones. When he wants it he log into the group When he wants it to go to the secratary, that person logs in and he logs out.

turn off the forwarding.

Thanks for the group idea - another good suggestion. Our disty can't replicate the issue on 4.1 and they're due an upgrade anyway. Hopefully an upgrade will fix it, if not, I'll try some of the above!
