forward email to GMail Account help

I am trying to get voicemails to copy to my gmail account and I keep getting the following error message when I try to set up the email settings under Control Panel | Voicemail Pro: failed to connect to mail server (smtp), error 0

I am able to send and recieve messages from my Outlook email client, but not through Voicemail Pro.

My system is at VM Pro 4.0

Any ideas?

smtp configured in vm pro control panel?

use smtp in vm pro preferencesF9.

I think you have to use a special port as well. i had this today with a fax server and got it working. you have to make sure your gmail is SMTP enabled as well.

does you gmail out require authorisation?

gmail might not recognise the account email address and see it as spam

have you tried the isp smtp?

try ip address instead of name

perhaps if someone could list the actual steps to setup forwarding to a web-based email account, that would help the most.
