Hello,

I'd like to be able to forward a user to say a FAX machine that is outside of my Avaya IP Office 500 v2.
I tried setting up an extension with forward unconditional == nothing. I tried short codes == nothing.

Got no clue how to accomplish this.

Can anyone help me?

When I press the programmed button, it plays hold music for a few sec and then it says That extension is unavailable and plays the menu over again.

For my setup it is essential that I'm able to forward the calls externally.

And another thing, will my line be occupied after the call was forwarded?

Thanks.

1st, in case of analog lines, by default it is not possible to transfer incoming calls out over another analog line, reprogramming is needed
2nd, you need to have at least two lines
3th, yes a forwarded call will consume two lines during the call and the outgoing call is on your bill
4th, hope this helps

@intrigrant

The calls are coming from SIP...and they will ideally be forwarded to analog. Our fax and other numbers outside the firm that still need to be accused by our consumers are by analog. We want to unify everything in one AA.

What exactly needs to be done to do a transfer from sip to external analog?

I've tried calling myself, picking up and then transferring manually the phonecall, on confirm the call is completely sent over to the analog line.
Even if it does hold a line, I'm fine with it. I just need it to transfer there.

you need to untick inhibit off switch forward/transfer on the system/telephony tab

@joe2938 And then which transfer method should I used?
Forward to an extension with forward unconditional? And in shortcakes select the line out? Or?

@joe2938 I had just checked. It was off to being with.
Anything else I can do?

just put the external number as the destination in the Incoming Call Route, no need for a extra forwarded user...
fill in the number as you would dial it on a phone

@intrigrant What I am trying to do is program the buttons in the Auto Attendant do forward to an external number.
For example the FAX machine. Or another building whew we don't have Avaya phone yet.

There are a few steps involved to accomplish this. One way to accomplish it would be to set up a shortcode to key up the analog 'Line' vs just dialing out of your default ARS along with the 'dial' digits. Then your FwdUnconditional would need to point to your shortcode.

Once you can dial your new 'shortcode' and get the call to connect, then go back to your AA and make the connections.

Good Luck,
E

@borsen, then be more specific of what you want.
I think you cannot forward calls external from a AA over analog lines, and if you can then you have 99% change the lines get tied up and don't disconnected at all.

@intrigrant
I have a SIP trunk. The calls arrive to my Avaya from a SIP to the AA...we still haven't received our equipment to connect our other office building with the first. So for the moment we want the AA to forward the calls to an external number.

So what I want is when a customer presses a number onto the AA, to be redirected to our other office building.

@edayalfa By Key up do you mean Dial?
I've tried using just a shortcode in the AA itself that didn't work.

Can you please explain the steps in a bit more detail cause I'm kind of confused. Very much a newb to Avaya.

After I do the shortcode, do I add it do the empty user that just redirects?

Thx.

Go to the Telephony/Telephony tab in System, make sure Inhibit off-Switch is not checked
Go to the Analog options of your lines, make sure Trunk to Trunk is check
Make a User, and Unconditionally forward them to the FAX number, remember to put the number in just as you would dial it yourself (include the 9 if needed)
Make the action code in the AA transfer to the User
Run SSA while you dial it yourself, to make sure it clears when you hang up

Think about this for a minute - I'm sending you a fax. I put the paper in the machine, dial the number, hit send, and walk away. I am never going to hear your announcement tell me to press a digit to transfer to your fax machine. So be sure to make option F in the AA do a transfer to your fax machine

@TouchToneTommy Thats what I've been doing so far. Inhibit off-Switch is not checked.
The FAX machine is not plugged into the Avaya at all.

It is on an external direct number. So what I need the AA do to is basically transfer to user to that number.
Like you would transfer a caller to an external number from the IP phone itself.

Can't seem to figure out how I can do that.
