Good Afternoon everyone,

I've been handed a task which is starting to nudge me to the point where I'm tempted to throw my laptop out of the window. Having searched the internet for a solution for weeks I've joined this forum in the hope someone can help.

Here's the scenario:
We have a phone number which comes into our Mitel 3300 system. We need this phone number to go directly to voicemail. We do not have a spare Mitel phone which we can register and add the voicemail to, to then forward the calls to this extension.

So, my question - is there such thing as a virtual extension which we can assign a vm mailbox to? Alternatively, is there a way we can forward calls to a vm mailbox without the need for it to have an extension?

I have tried the solution on this post with no luck.

Many thanks in advance.

As the originator of that post I think you would need to tell me what didn't work.

Your system type matters - Stated as 3300
Your software level matters
Your voicemail type matters
How you want to handle the call after a message is left matters

[li]Send an email?[/li]
[li]Do Nothing?[/li]

Thank you for your reply.

After following the post, calling the number gave me an out of service error, which lead me to believe perhaps the post does not suit what we are trying to do.

To cut a long story short - we need to enable users to call a specified geographical number. This number would then play a recorded message, then end the call. The recorded message will be updated on a weekly basis, hence the need to use an Information VM Mailbox and not a RAD message - the user responsible for updating the message does not have sufficient access to the system to update the RAD greetings but can log into the VM Mailbox remotely to change the recorded message.

Please see the attached screenshot showing the software details.

Ok that simplifies things significantly.

The easiest method
[ul]
[li]Create Hunt group XXXX[/li]
[li]Optional - Name the Hunt group via the Tel Dir[/li]
[li]Set call rerouting for HG XXXX to VM on an Always Condition for Day, Night1 and Night2 <-- I believe this is what you missed before.[/li]
[li]Create MB XXXX to match the HG XXXX[/li]
[li]Set MB to Menu Node <-- Not Info MB as it does not hang up[/li]
[li]Set Dial Zero for Menu node to itself[/li]
[/ul]

Optional Set the Menu Node to hang up after 3 repetitions instead of transfer to zero. Via Admin MB edit option - see help files.

Thanks for your reply.

I have followed your steps, and when I call the number I get to a message stating "Thank you for calling. If you have a touch tone phone you may enter the extension of the person you'd like to reach..."

In the step to set call rerouting to go to voicemail, I have told it to reroute to 1571 - is this correct?

Thanks,

I've got it working!

I had missed out the number of my hunt group in the VM's "Extension" field. Once I put it in my recorded message is played.

Many thanks for your help, much appreciated!
