I am having a problem with Forticlient and Windows 7. When I go to connect it will ask for the login and then hang during the negotiation. I have disbaled the firewall, reinstalled both the client and the OS, and still the problem persists. Has anyone heard of problems with Forticlient 4.1 and Windows 7? I am using a Dell laptop with all up to date drivers. Thanks.

Which release are you on? Patch 3 which just came out March 5ht has resolved many bugs which include:
"Description: Automatically bring up VPN tunnel after failure.
Bug ID: 109605"

This might be the issue..give it a shot..if not, it is probably at the Fortigate/VPN termination device that you are connecting to.
Check the config, and use the .vpl file that you did on the Windows7 machine on another machine and see if that works.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the response. To what patch are you refering? I have not been able to find any updates to the client since December.

If all else fails, wireshark it (both ends).

You're welcome dlmorgan92.

The patch3 can be found here (you need to have proper login rights to the software as usual):
ftp://support.fortinet.com/FortiClient/v4.00/4.0MR1/4.0MR1_Patch_3/

The December update you referred to was Patch 2.

Happy upgrading! :)

Thanks HH for your help. After much ado I have gone back to version 3. As soon as I downgraded, I have no problems connecting. I was at 4.1 and it still would not connect. I may try again when the next release comes out.
