I am doing a bill of lading report that contains the page header, details section, and page footer. I need the page header and page footer to appear on each and every page. Now, here is my formatting question... The details section and the page footer have a gap/space between them on the report. Is there any way that I can keep them together so this gap disappears? Perhaps there is a formula of some kind? This report has tons of lines and text boxes so it gets harder and harder to move them into different sections.

Any suggestions are most helpful...

Thank you! [2thumbsup]

You don't need any formulas for this. Just drag the section lines at the bottom of each section up so that it touches the bottom of the fields in that section.

If the section border won't let you drag that far, check that you don't have any suppressed, white fonted, or very small fields in the way.

If you want to check if there are fields you can't see, export your report to a report definition file, which will tell you if you have any fields you might have missed.

If the gap you're talking about is a whole different section that you're not using, right click the grey left hand side of the section, and select 'Delete Section'.

Naith,

I cannot delete this section because it is the page footer. I right mouse click and do not have the option to delete it, instead I have suppressed it. Also, the section lines are dragged to the bottom of the fields in that section. Design view looks correct, preview mode puts this gap in between details and page footer. I cannot seem to get rid of it! Could all these lines I drew in the report have anything to do with it?

Thanks!

Most sections are placed measuring from the top of the page. Page footers (and any sections formatted to print at the bottom of the page) are placed measuring from the bottom of the page. There may be a gap if there are not enough details and/or group sections to completely fill the page. You cannot make the page footer "float" to print just below the last detail line.

I'm not sure 100% what you're trying to do here, because you say in your first post that you want the page footer to appear on every page. Then in your next post, you say you suppressed it.

If you want to completely utilise all available space til the footer, you probably need to check that the 'Keep Together' or 'New Page Before/After' function aren't checked on in any of your sections before the footer.

If you are keeping groups together, Crystal will start a new page if it thinks it can't fit the whole group on one page.

I'm sorry, typo. I meant I suppressed the report footer.
