Is it possible to format lists with InDesign?

A little more information would be helpful. What kind of lists & what exactly do you want to do? What version of InDesign & which OS?

Thanks for responding.

I'm trying to do something quite basic with InDesign CS on Windows. What I'd like to do is format my paragraphs into numbered and bullet lists like this,

1. A Heading Title of Sorts
- A bulleted sub item 1
Lots of content in here. Lots of content in here. Lots of content in here.

- A bulleted sub item 2
Lots of content in here. Lots of content in here. Lots of content in here.

- A bulleted sub item 3

Something along those lines.
I know I can do it in word and import it but if I add or change any sections I'm not sure how it will automate with InDesign.

Any word processor or page layout program will do this. In InDesign, make use of these three palettes for best results:

Paragraph styles
Character styles
Tabs

Why is everyone in this forum responding to me as picklefish?

Thanks mate, I had feeling that would be the case.

If you are using InDesign CS as tad1952 may have been questioning, you can create this easily as a 'nested style'.

cool, I'll have a look into it but the useful thing would be if the numbering were automated like in Word so that if I were to add a new list item it would increment the following items +1.

What about working with the Indexes?
I tried using InDesign help but this particular topic is quite confusing.

I get the impression that when setting up Indexes there is the ability to add a new item which increments the other Index items.
I thought this would therefor work similarly in the content.

I haven't managed to work out the Index thing yet - you may have noticed my other post regarding this. I'm sure I'll get it sooner or later.
