Formatting Hard Disk

You can boot the WIndows XP CD. From there you will be able to delete the partition and format the HD
 
First off, have you booted into safe mode and ran the mydoom removal tool from symantec?

If you still want to format, and you have the XP cd with a cd-rom, put the cd into the rom and boot up. You may have to go into the system bios to change your cd-rom to be the first boot drive.
Follow the instructions and when it asks if you want to format the drive, select yes.
You should backup some of your file first if you need some of it down the road.

I vote with karmic, you should not need to reformat due to MyDoom.
 
I have tried the symantec fix mydoom, but it comes up with and windows error even in save mode and turning off system restore.

I just feel like formatting as well, it needs it
