Hello everyone,

I've bought a Laptop which is preloaded with Windows XP. Now I need to load Windows NT. If I format the Harddisk, will I face any problems while loading NT.....can anyone help me with suitable suggestion.......

Thanks in advance..... regards...... Kumar

Make sure that you get NT drivers for all your hardware, also make sure that the hd is NTFS and not fat32 as NT will not install onto fat32

Which version of NT? I guess you mean NT4.
I would recommend Win2k AKA: NT5 however as it is much much more suitable for laptops.

why go back to NT? if i may ask... whats wrong with XP... from what I heard it is more stable than W2K...

well i guess if you choose to install NT you better prepare all your hardware drivers and make sure they are compatible with NT 4 .
if you want dual boot make sure that your hard disk is ntfs for NT 4 doesn't recognise fat32

Installing NT would not be a problem except for the drivers. If dual boot is required, What u can do is create a FAT16 partition (max 2047 MB) where u can install any Win9X OS & install NT by creating NTFS partition in the remaining free space. I had faced problem in installing a ATI Ragepro(display) driver for NT on laptop so check if all the drivers are available first. I think only in case of less RAM or specific software requirement, u should go for NT otherwise Win2000 Professional is fine.

it is alway better to run latest os on latest hardware.
do not downgrading os on new machine to have same os on all machines .
