The text frame defines the left and right margins on the odd and even master pages. The way this was set up, there is LOTS of white space leading in to the left text margin. I need to have more horizontal space to accomodate large screen captures. Is there any way that I can violate/override the left text margin for screen captures (mine are in anchored frames) so I don't have to redo the text margins [right now at least].
 
I'm not shure that I understand your problem correctly.

But when inserting screenshots using anchored frames I often use special paragraph formats defining all horizontal and vertical spaces.

For example define a paragraph format "Picture" and give it the desired spacings. Then always insert Pictures in "Empty Lines" with this paragraph format.
