I have switched OS to d: and tried to format c: by right clicking on it and states that i can not format it. so i just deleted the contents. everything is deleted off of it but there is still 437MB still being used.

I'm not sure if they are hidden files or not. I'm sorta new at this stuff so some info would be greatly appreciated.

well i tried switched C: and D: around. i made sure the jumpers were correct. After verifying DMI Pool Data, it stated NTLDR is missing Press Ctrl = Alt = Del to restart. I used trial and error for this. i figured there r 6 different ways to hook them up.

Origanal C: Slave Master Unplug Master unplug Slave
Origanal D: Master Slave Master unplug Slave unplug

the only one that worked was C:master and D:slave. Again the OS is on Origanal D: Does this info help?

Try your emergency boot disk and fdisk. you'll probably see that only one drive is active. And that is the boot disk.

Seems high, but yes, hidden and system files. What OS?

I don't have any boot disks. I am using xp pro.

How did you change the OS to D drive??
Is reinstalling an option?

I would suggest either
- copying your data to C drive then unplugging it
- use fdisk from a Win98 boot floppy to check and correct the setting for the second drive (say one primary partition marked as active (ie bootable)). Note - if you havent unplugged the first drive then you need to be certain to switch to the correct drive before making any changes)
- then reinstall your OS onto the second drive (which will now be C drive.
Now plug back in the first drive and both should be there.

Or
move your OS back to C drive as it was originally, then using a drive copying program (Drive Copy or Norton Ghost)to clone all the first drive to the second (this assumes that there is nothing important left on D as it will be wiped).

I just popped in xp install and installed it on(D:). i want to leave the OS the the Origanal D: but move it to the Master slot so it turns in to C: but it wont let me boot that way.
