Hi

How can we format FMD? can we plug it on a laptop and do FAT format? FAT 32??

Regards

When you install the software if the format does not fit the requirements the install will format and partition the drive as needed.

Hello Fadi2008,

in pdt, if yout type in format formatCf2

Usage: formatCf2 0 - format RMD with DOS FAT16 format.
formatCf2 1 - format RMD with DOS FAT16 format and make RMD bootable.

regards

As for pdt command:Format CF2 is it used to format the RMD or FMD???

We need to format the fixed media drive (FMD) and not
the removable media drive (RMD).
because there is a tool to format the RMD and make it bootable, however we didn't find a tool to format FMD.

Cheers

Hi

We put the FMD device on the RMD slot and went into pdt and tried to format Cf2 by using:

pdt> format /cf2
Can only format floppies

and got above error "Can only format floppies".

Regards

Try formatting in a PC. It is not working anyhow. Worst case you need to get another 1 GB flash but mor than likely the install program will try to format the drive. Under utilities is there a place to format and partition the drive from the install menu? Maybe there is a way to unformat this card using a PC.

We tried to format it from Windows using FAT but same issue

yes of course it is a nortel 1GB flash.

the "formatCf2 0" command is for the RMD in the front, so you could try doing it in there. If it still gets failures you might need a new one.

We tried The commands you suggested "bignose21" :
In pdt, if yout type in format formatCf2
Usage: formatCf2 0 - format RMD with DOS FAT16 format.
formatCf2 1 - format RMD with DOS FAT16 format and make RMD bootable.

We got below:

pdt> formatcf2 0
Cannot find symbol table entry for 'formatcf2'.

Hi bignose

I tried both:

pdt> formatcf2 0
Cannot find symbol table entry for 'formatcf2'.
pdt> formatCf2 0
Cannot find symbol table entry for 'formatCf2'.

Are you sure this command exists in Rls 4.5 ???

Sorry getting used to Rls 5.

I don't think there was one in 4.5, you can always use the PCMCIA Card programmer on your PC to stick a SSC load on it then just delete all the files off it. Format is part of the process.
