Hello all,

I'm having a performance problem with a Word document with many tables. One solution was to design the form in excel instead of word.

The problem is that when I protect the excel sheet with the correct cells locked or unlocked, the form checkboxes are not included in the tab order of cells. It forces anyone using the form to have to use the mouse to check or uncheck the checkbox instead of using the keyboard.

Thanks for any feedback on this!

What was the performance issue?
How many tables?
Version?

Did you consider using a UserForm?

As for the locking cell affecting tab order in Excel, I am surprised the Excel guys have not posted. I would have to play around.

The checkboxes in Excel, are they from the Forms toolbar? Or are they from the Controls toolbar?

Hey Gerry, you are actually helping me in the word post as well.
I'm not sure what a userForm is in Excel. Do you mean the "Form" feature in the "Data" menu that lets you enter data into a table in a way similar to an access form?

The checkboxes are from both the forms toolbar and the control toolbox and neither will select from the tab key.

We've designed the excel form to look exactly like the word document, where the entry fields are now just unlocked cells on protected sheets. Because we are working on a team with many players, we want to make it as user friendly as possible, and many of them are accustom to tabbing from field to field in the word document. We just want to replicate that feature.

Thanks!!!

Andre
