zoning out from work overload and need your help please....

Here is the question: Which event do I tie the macro to (and here's the clincher) which will allow the body of the startup form to be viewed while the macro is running?

Background:I have a macro that runs other macros/queries in order to automate the process of pulling sql linked db data, performing all the calculations and acrobatics to get the data into report templates, and to have the reports print automatically. I would like the user to see the body of the startup form so that they get a "pretty" please wait screen. I know I could just use a msgbox within the macro but then the macro has to wait for clicking, etc.

thanks for all the help....this place has helped me get through some long days!

Don't know if I understand exactly what you are doing, but you can create a small pop-up (notification) form (similar to a password form). On this form, put a message (label) like "Import Process running ......."

In Tools | Startup, or an Autoexec macro, specify this form as opening first. After the last macro, close that form, and open your main form. The user will never be prompted for an action.

1) Open notification form:
2) Run all macros:
3) Close opening form:
4) Open Main Form:

Just one of several things you could do.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for your help. I was on the same brain trail...I have a please wait form set to open upon startup using Tools/Startup and have a separate macro. What form event (on the startup form) do I attach the macro to -so that it runs after the form is opened?

OR now that you mention it I could do an autoexec macro....but how do I set up the macro to autoexec?

thanks again!

If you create a macro with the name AUTOEXEC, it will automatically run on database startup. Terry M. Hoey

How can I use autoexec macro to open a form in ACCESS "after" the database has opened?

In the autoexec macro add a line with the action "OpenForm" them put the form name down in the bottom box called "Form Name"
