Does anyone know of any way to reset the on-media password? Our CommCell was installed by a consultant who's lost since disappeared, and I've inherited the setup. There's no problem right now, but it concerns me that a password has been set that we potentially might need in a hurry.

I can't reset it from the console without knowing the old one. Is there any known way of overriding this so that future media will use a new password?

I'd ask CV to provide a script to force a reset.

Have you tried changing the password with old pasword of CommVault or Galaxy or cvadmin....one of those 3 are the usual suspects ;-)

Afraid I've tried them already ::) We haven't got any support from CommVault (apart from VIP); I did grub around in the SQL tables and found what appears to be the media password row, but I'm loath to blank it in case I break everything.

the media password was entered in when installing CV
CV can tell you what it is
I have had them do it before for one of my commcells

Thanks folks. I'm hoping to reinstate our paid support from CommVault later this year (we had support from our reseller before, and it was useless so we let it lapse). Hopefully I won't need the password before then, fingers crossed :)
