I have a client that brilliantly put a database password on an Access 2000 database and doesn't know what it was. Does anyone know if there is any way to get past the password ?

Thanks.

Lloyd.

This should work only if the privilages for the 'admin' userid has not been change.
1. Open MS Access.
2. create a new database
3. Import all the objects (including any hidden ones) into the new database.

Tried that and it asks for the database password.

Thanks.

Lloyd.

That will only work if the database is secured using user-level security. If somebody set a database password, you're out of luck.

Best hope would be to find someone who can hack their way in.

if this is an access97 database I can find the password if you send me the database

Sorry,
You wrote that it is an access 2000 database.
I noticed it to late

There are several hacking tools that exist (makes you wonder how useful passwords are these days!). Here is the website for one such tool:

They have a FREE demo that gives you the first 2 letters of the password. That may be enough to jog your clients memory. If not, you can always order the full version.

Good Luck,
Jen

Thank you very much. Either way that should solve the problem.
