Forgot administrator password

My client forgot the administrator passowrd and no other user have the admministrative rights. Is there any utility to break/ know the password.

the domain administrators password?? or is it just a server that is not part of a domain ?

Try Lophto or Brute force. All of these programs take a LONG time to run, but they will work. Have you tried logging in as another user? Surely they had multiple Domain admins.

HI.

Here is one method:

Go to WINNT\SYSTEM32
Copy the MMC.EXE file over the LOGON.SCR file (rename LOGON.SCR before so you can restore it).
Reboot the server and wait 15 minutes.
MMC should come up, allowing you to reset the password.

This does not always work, but always worth a try.

If the WINNT folder is on FAT32, simply boot using Win9x boot diskette. If it is on NTFS, then you'll need a NTFS boot disk or a parallel W2K install (W2K pro will do fine), or connect the drive to a different W2K computer for that purpose.

It will load a light Linux version in a boot disk with a script that access the SAM database.

There is one way to recover the password connect the same hadd as a secondary to another machine and rename the sam file in it & then connect the hdd and u can login with administrator with blank password but on edisadvantage is that ur all users will b edeleted. u have to recreate them.
