Is there a way to force an extension (in this case a fax machine) to dial out over a specific analog line? Right now the fax machine is dialing out over any one of 4 possible lines - just like regular voice extensions are able to do. Incoming routing to the fax machine is working fine.

change outgoing call id on line you want to use to a unique number, on the fax ext use short code ?, ., line id the new number, dial

I could do that, but then only the fax machine would have outgoing access to this line. With only 5 POTS lines in the entire system, the customer would like to have this line available for regular outbound calls as well.

Is there another way to force faxes out over a specific line?

Sorry to bump this back up.

Is a unique outbound group the only way to force the fax machine to dial on a certain line?

yes, if you have a dedicated outbound line for faxes then using it as part of the main call is not simple
It could be achieved using LCR & Alternate routes but is it realy worth the hastle?

The more I think about it, I'm just going to use a unique outgoing group for this fax line and extension.
