gblush- because it was my code name back in grade school,
I grew up in San Francisco, California. I work as IT Support in Florida.

FatSlug - Basically an insult someone threw at me during my university days and it stuck from there as my nickname! Also used as my handle for on-line games etc.

Job-wise I am a software developer in the UK.

I like work. It fascinates me. I can sit and look at it for hours...

I figured it might a good time for another bump.

Thanks for periodically posting this "Welcome" link, I always enjoy browsing through all the handle origins.

judgeh59 - judge has been my nickname since I was 9 hours old...a nurse said I looked like a Judge she knew and my parents thought that was cute. I sort of lost the moniker for a bit in High School, but I don't mind it so much now...

I'm not sure how I got my handle...

;)

... but if you're wondering why I dropped the "n", think of the old 8-character max login days... talk about old habits being hard to break.

First name randy.
As an avid bowler, it was my goal to eventually reach a score of 700 in a 3 game series.
Perhaps I should now consider changing to randy800.

Qik3Coder:
My first job, where I was working when I found this forum, utilized a proprietary software language called Qik (version 3).

A lack of experience doesn't prevent you from doing a good job.

I originally appeared on TT with the handle C0h0nes. Following a slightly heated exchange with another member, my account disappeared without trace*, along with the offending thread, courtesy of the mods.

Having lost my marbles, as it were, out of pique, I took the middle name of my opponent and a reference to his business interests for my new handle. Then I did not visit here for years.

Years later, I discovered that my old handle had been Bowdlerized to C0i0nes. One more infringement and I suppose I would have become C0j0nes.

Background: Molecular Biology/Plant Virology/Plant Pathology, Medical Database Development, Analysis, Stats/IT Management/Programming, semi-retired.

I work in electro-optics, particularly infrared sensors. Nighteyes therefore seemed like a good idea, and I've used it elsewhere, but it was already taken on TT - hence N1GHTEYES.

My minion's suggestion that the all caps handle is because I shout a lot is a vile calumny. Underneath, in fact, I have a very tender sole. At, least I do when I'm standing. Hmm I seem to have strayed into the "Twin Words" thread...

I've been around TT for a good while now, mainly VB/Office/VBA, but I do enjoy this one too. The reason this entry is so late in coming is simply that I could have sworn I'd already written one. This also tells you something about my memory nowadays...

Mom always said that even with seven brothers and sisters, I was the "lone wolf". Given that I prefer to work un-noticed, in the background, "Ghost" just seemed to fit.

Where to begin, old enough to know better. Live in So. New England, Play a lot of chess. Been in IT for 27 years. Have done about every other jobs locally prior to moving into IT, when dual floppies were all the rage.

To finally add myself to the list, and also to give this thread a bump...

My handle was given to me by a former colleague and friend who passed away a few years ago, based on my (moderate at best) abilities with a guitar. Out of college I worked in R&D for a company that made medical instruments in Westchester, NY, and currently do some web/database programming and IT support for various small businesses in Long Island, NY.

Thought I had done this a long time ago.

I have lived in central Ohio all my life so my vocabulary is slanted to mid west version.

My handle comes from a long (and unique) story about how I got started doing IT work and my constant drive to learn new technical skill sets, hence perpetually being the “New Guy”!

I am a telecom tech support engineer specialising in the Avaya IP office, it seemed like a good name to hive when I joined IP office forum here & is politer than some of the others I have been called.

I used to be a keen scuba diver but time & financial constraints mean I rarely get the chance these days.
