Since this is a HP group I may get a basis answer but I willing to take that chance. For enterpise class servers which OS is perfered and why? What are the strong and weak points of each?

Hi Ed,
For my money it would have to be hp-ux 10.x now 11.x.
It is a proven OS, can be hardended, and there is tons of support, i.e. this forum.
Unix in general is NOT virus prone, primarily due to a READ-ONLY kernel lock (windows kernel is dynamicly active while open, allowing writes), plus the fact there is no registry to work with nor application extensions to key on.
Linux is a great option to UX, only caveate at present might be driver accessability.
Nutshell;
If it were my business it would have to be HP-UX, primarily for the proven uptime capabilities and proven supportability

My 2 cents worth
