I have created my own template for a manual we are transferring from .txt to .doc. I have a footer that is comprised of the date and page number and then this information is underlined. When I do a page preview the footer fits on the page just fine but when I print the page the underline disappears and half of the date is chopped off. I have tried resetting the top/bottom margins but that hasn't helped. Anyone have any suggestions?

Have you tried changing the header & footer margins?

Word defaults to 1 inch top and bottom; 1 1/4 left and right. It also has a Header & Footer margin of 1/2 inch. This may not be large enough for your printer.

Please post back if the header & footer margins don't fix it.

Sounds like an incompatibilty with your printer settings - did you check if some parameter in the printer driver setup (like margins or paper size) are set in a way that interferes with what you want to do?

I had a similar problem with printing some documents on a specific printer type - on all other printers in my institute the pages came out the way I wanted, but on this one "problem printer" the printable area was smaller, and thus part of my text was chopped off...
