I have a template that has the following in the footer:

{IF { PAGE } = { NUMPAGES } "This should print on last page only" ""}

It works when i test it from the template, but does not work in a document created from that template.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Betty

Please explain "but does not work". What does not work?

The footer should only print on the last page whether 1 page or multiple. It is printing the IF statement on all pages.

It is printing the IF statement on all pages. "

If it is printing it as text on all pages, then most likely it is not actually a field, but text.

How did you get

{IF { PAGE } = { NUMPAGES } "This should print on last page only" ""}

into the footer? Did you use Ctrl-F9 to put in the field?

Yes i did - It works when i test it from the template, but does not work from a document created from the template.

It must be some weirdness with 2007. A properly inserted field like this in a footer of a template works fine in any document cloned from a template, for me.

Hopefully someone who uses 2007 may be able to help you.

In Word 2007, click the office button, choose Advanced, scroll dowm to Print section and uncheck "Print field codes instead of their values". Hopefully that's what the problem is. Please report any success or failure.

It was already unchecked so that is not the problem

That's probably the case. Just to be sure though, would you kindly do this:

Open your document, go to Office Button, select Print and select Print again. In the Print dialog at the bottom left, ckick on Options. Then go to Advanced, and the Print secion to look for the checkmark.

If it's unchecked, I am at a loss to explain it.

Perhaps a repair is in order - Word Options|Resources|Diagnose.

Also, checking the "Print field codes instead of their values" option, closing Word, then re-starting and unchecking it may fix the problem (eg if the relevant registry key has somehow obtained an erroneous value).
