I wonder how many song titles or lyrics remind people of food. Even if they need to be amended very slightly...

I have things in mind like
"There's a guy works down the chip shop swears he's Elvis"
or
"There's a plaice for us"
or
"Bette Davies Pies"
or the more obscure "As time goes by" as made famous in the film "Casablanca"

"You must remember this,
Haggis is just Haggis"

Any other mouth watering suggestions?

It is time for pacifists to stand up and fight for their beliefs.

Big Mac The Knife
When the moon hits your eye like a big piece of pie... that's amore. (the original works, too of course)

Actually, I think I have more cases where food reminds me of a song. Whenever I'm having a particularly good cheeseburger, I always start thinking of Jimmy Buffet's Cheeseburger in Paradise.

Whenever anyone even just says the word "lime", I always pipe up with "...and de coconut". It's a reflex action that I can't control. [bigsmile]

Oh, I eat peas with honey,
Ive done it all my life
It may sound kind of funny,
But it keeps them on my knife!

Dont know who wrote it, but I think that peas has an e on the end.

"Impatience will reward you with dissatisfaction" RMS Cosmics'97

Peas, peas, peas, peas
Eating goober peas
Goodness how delicious
Eating goober peas

Beans, beans, the magical fruit
The more you eat, the more you toot
The more you toot, the better you feel
Let's have beans for every meal!

Oh, I diet all day,
And I diet all night.
It's enough to drive me bats.
Got no gravy or potatoes
'Cause the whole refrigerator's
Full of polyunsaturated fats.
Fare the well,
Metrecal,
And the others of that ilk.
Let my diet start tomorrow
For tonight I'll drown my sorrow
In a double malted milk!

Written by Larry Groce
Released by Warner Bros. Records in 1976

You know I love that organic cooking
I always ask for more
And they call me Mr. Natural
On down to the health food store
I only eat good sea salt
White sugar don't touch my lips
And my friends is always
Begging me to take them
On macrobiotic trips
Yes, they are

Oh, but at night I stake out my strongbox
That I keep under lock and key
And I take it off to my closet
Where nobody else can see
I open that door so slowly
Take a peek up north and south
Then I pull out a Hostess Twinkie
And I pop it in my mouth

Yeah, in the daytime I'm Mr. Natural
Just as healthy as I can be
But at night I'm a junk food junkie
Good lord have pity on me

Well, at lunchtime
You can always find me
At the Whole Earth Vitamin Bar
Just sucking on my plain white yogurt
From my hand thrown pottery jar
And sippin' a little hand pressed cider
With a carrot stick for dessert
And wiping my face
In a natural way
On the sleeve of my peasant shirt
Oh yeah

Ah, but when that clock strikes midnight
And I'm all by myself
I work that combination
On my secret hideaway shelf
And I pull out some Fritos corn chips
Dr. Pepper and an Ole Moon Pie
Then I sit back in glorious expectation
Of a genuine junk food high

Oh yeah, in the daytime I'm Mr. Natural
Just as healthy as I can be
But at night I'm a junk food junkie
Good lord have pity on me

My friends down at the commune
They think I'm pretty neat
Oh, I don't know nothing about arts and crafts
But I give 'em all something to eat
I'm a friend to old Euell Gibbons
And I only eat homegrown spice
I got a John Keats autographed Grecian urn
Filled up with my brown rice
Yes, I do

Oh, but folks lately I have been spotted
With a Big Mac on my breath
Stumbling into a Colonel Sanders
With a face as white as death
I'm afraid someday they'll find me
Just stretched out on my bed
With a handful of Pringles Potato Chips
And a Ding Dong by my head

In the daytime I'm Mr. Natural
Just as healthy as I can be
But at night I'm a junk food junkie
Good lord have pity on me

I'll admit I split bananas,
Take Easter eggs and make them dye.
But I never harmed an onion
So why should they make me cry?

Once I saw a salad dressing.
My face got radish, my oh my.
But I never harmed an onion
So why should they make me cry?

Potatoes I've mashed, and berries I've crushed,
I've made an artichoke, and that's not all.
I've also whipped cream, and beaten an egg.
Yes, I've even made a melon ball.

Of all the things above, I'm guilty.
If punished I would know just why.
But I never harmed an onion
So why should they make me cry?
Oh why should they make me cry?

As well as the Green Onions mentioned by Dave, Booker T & The MGs also have 'Red Beans and Rice' as a variation on their diet.

Speaking of 'Red Beans and Rice', I love the version by Spearhead...

I don't eat red meat but I'm not a vegetarian
I like ice cream / but not much dairy
'cause it gets in my nose
it makes me gotta blows
snot like a farmer and it gets up on my clothes
it's rather unsightly / can even be frightening
but cold medication it should not be taken nightly
because everything dat I put in / it comes out again
and if I eat lean / it helps me stay thin
check out my hair I keep it dreaded
about my corn? I like it breaded
hot from the oven? MMMM! you said it!
straight to the stomach my fuel is unleaded
But not fossil fuels / I like olive oil
I like my eggs scrambled / I never eat 'em boiled
The way to my heart / is with a garlic clove
it smells hella sexy when it's on the kitchen stove
