i loaded a new font into my mac font book to use in photoshop. now if i try to use that font in illustrator 8.0 it doesn't show in the available list of fonts. how do i get that type font to be recognized for use 8.0? any help would be helpful. thanks

8 is a mac classic app. If you wnat fonts to be available to both classic and OSX apps, they have to be installed in Fonts folder System Folder - that EXACT folder name on the hard drive. That's the classic os as opposed to System which is osx os folder on the hard drive.

Make sure to move the font from the osx fonts foldeer or you'll have 2 version of the font when using photoshop or other osx app. You can just drag the font from one folder to the other. It will become active on teh next launch of an app.

thanks...very helpful, but even after loading into this folder illustrator 8.0 still doesn't see it.

does classic 9 accept windows true type fonts? i can use the font in photoshop 7.0 and it shows in my font book -even in the classic ms os collection. it shows a font name (ex. Rough), but when i go into the os9 font folder it shows rort____.ttf which is different that the other 'font suitcase/ffil" fonts shown.

will some font work in osx, but not in classixc? any help would be appreciated.

9 does not recognize windows truetype. You need the mac version.
