I am using Word Perfect 9 (patch 883) and Win 98

When I have been using WP for a couple of hours and in the mantime opened up Excel 2000, Outlook 2000, and another couple of applications, most of the fonts will disappear.

This means that the document that I am working on will change to one of about 3 or 4 (horrible looking) fonts.

The only solution I have found is to reboot the PC.

I have tried to reduce the number of background applications that start up at PC boot to see whether it is a resources issue, however the problem still exists

This is a memory problem especially if you're using Excel and Outlook and any other MS products like Word which suck out a lot of memory and then not release it when you've finished. The only way to fix this is to leave Excel running (even if you've finished with it). Apparently it's the closing and opening of these apps all the time that impacts so severely on the memory and the fonts in WP then disappear leaving you with docs which look awful and minimal fonts. If it's any consolation I have a 850 MHz PC with 20GB hard drive and 256MB of memory and it happens to me all the time if I use WP with any MS apps but especially Excel and Outlook and Word ! I usually re-start because it's the quickest and easiest way to clear the memory.
