We are creating Crystal Reports in version 8.5. These reports are then put on the web. The database is in SQL. The reports are using Verdana 8pt as the font.

We are finding that text fields, when on the reports are opened on the internet are not allowing all the data to appear. In Crystal these fields have been set to "Can Grow".

The only work around we have found is to change the font to Courier New Western 8pt.

It works with this font - but looks really ugly.

Any ideas around this?

Thanx,
barbara

The rendering font is actually dependant on the fonts the user has on their machine. For example, If you are exporting Verdana as PDF over the web, and the user running the report is on a Mac, then the results will most likely not be verdana (if anything at all). THis is a result of the fact that Verdana is not a standard fon on a Mac.

We experienced the same prob. We chose Arial Western. Is is the Internet standard, and is also nice to look at.

What export format are you using?

Hi Jazerr,

All of our users are on PCs. And we have tried Arial Western, but that causes the same problem for us.

Do you use a specific font size?

We export to .rtf through the Crystal Automation Server.

Thanx for your reply!!

hmmm... That's interesting.

Did you try Arial 10? I don't know if size has to do with anything.

Maybe Ken has an idea???
