Does anybody know how you can preview a font style in the drop down list of fonts (eg illustrator? has the font names in the style as part of the drop down)
CS2 offers that setting (WYSIWYG menu) as a default. If you have CS2 and don't see the font in its typestyle, go to Preferences and check the box next to Font Preview Size in the Type pref pane.
Try an external program like a font manager to render a font specimen list. I believe there is also an InDesign script in the Adobe Exchange (adobe.com) that will create a sample listing of all of your system fonts.
I use CS1 too. My trick is to create an Illustrator doc with some text and use that as the previewer. If you want a better idea of how your test would appear in indesign, just copy/paste some from indesign into illustrator.
