Font Settings Corrupt/ Default Windows Font Messed Up

I just got a new computer but the regular default win xp font is messed up. it's best shown through IE, with a google search:

you can see the poor quality messed up font (arial?) especially on the descriptions under the google links.

Control Panel/ Fonts/ Click on any font for an example of that Font to be displayed.

Curious about which font a particular site is using? Take a look at their HTML code by clicking Source on the View menu. You will frequently find fonts specified as font tags, (eg. <font face="Georgia, Verdana, Trebuchet, Times New Roman, Times">). This is a useful way to find out which fonts are used, although increasingly the code telling the browser which font to use is contained within a
style sheet which isn't quite so easy to view.

There may be a problem with the installed video driver. Check with the video adapter manufacturer for a possible video driver update.

Are you running McAfee's QuickClean lite? This has been known to cause Font problems in XP.

Try removing the Font and installing it again, assuming you have XP go here:
