I am working in Quark 4.0 - used to have a font popup menu in my measurements palette - but since reinstalling after a crash, I have lost that. Any ideas how I can get that organization back??

Reinstalling the Quark program from the CD should have fixed this problem.

Are you using any font management programs like ATM, Type Reunion or Suitcase?

You could try trashing the related preference files. Rebuilding the desktop or zapping the PRAM could not hurt either.

We've reinstalled numerous times, but to no avail. We do have Adobe Type manager, is there a preference within that program that might help??

A question on the pop up menu.

In Quark, when you click on the arrow (on the measurement palette) to get the drop menu to show the list of fonts you have active, are there any fonts listed? Does a drop menu appear and the box is empty?

How about when you create a text box in Quark and place your cursor inside the text box, does Helvetica show up on the measurement palette?

I am just trying to figure out if you have any fonts active via ATM and or if the "Base 13" fonts or at least showing up.

If it is ATM, the font database could be corrupted. You might need to trash it, restart your computer and reload the fonts into ATM again.

Your not talking about Type Reunion, correct?

OK - lets see if I can explain this correctly. Before my quark crashed, I used to be able to click the arrow in the measurements palette, then it would display the fonts in groups. For example, i would scroll down to Incised, then it would give me another black arrow and would give me another pop out menu with the incised family listed. Now, the fonts are all listed, not in family groups. So, instead of me clicking on Helvetica and getting all the different types, I have to select either B Helvetica Bold or LB Helvetica Black. Makes for confusion if you dont know which one you're looking for.

Does that make sense???

Okay...you are missing the nice weight/family groupings that are associated with a selected font.

Programs like Adobe Type Reunion or Suitcase Menu fonts (for those using Extensis Suitcase) will give you this function.

In your situtation you must have purchase Adobe Type Reunion separately or it is on the same disk as ATM.

Check your control panel to see if it was installed. If not check your disks. Once installed you will need to go into Type Reunion and add Quark (and any other applications) to the list that you want the font grouping feature to appear in.
