Font not showing in InDesign

Hi all,
I'm pretty new at InDesign, so I hope you can forgive me for asking a slightly stupid question. I have installed many, many fonts on my computer, but unfortunately, not all of them show up in font list in InDesign. I have tried copying the font in the Adobe font list, directly in the InDesign font list, deleting the Adobefnt*.lst etc. Still no luck. Can anybody help?

Hi Benweg

Font problem could be local to Indesign or with your system wide font preferences....can you see 'missing' fonts in applications other than Indesign?

Few thoughts for you

- make sure that your fonts are 'activated' in your font application (.e.g. fontbook in apple osx)...most font applications have an important difference between an installed font and an active font. (e.g. i have several thousand installed fonts but a small portion activated and so available in applications such as Indesign...more active fonts = slower).

- try resetting Indesign...hold Ctrl+Option+Command+Shift while Indesign loads
