Per earlier posting (subject: Symposium 5.0 upgrade), we successfully restored the database from the Symposium 4.0 to a new Symposium 5.0 server per brewedude's instructions. When then moved the CLAN and ELAN connections from the old server to the new server and rebooted the new 5.0 server but most of the services did not start-up, including the ELAN/elnk. WE can ping the both the CLAN and ELAN. The system monitor would not even opened up. WE rebooted the server and re-started the services several times but failed to connect to the PBX and a host of services won't start. Please help! Thank you.

The first service that will not start-up is the NBNM and other services depend on it.

Last time I saw something like this happen the Database and Config files had different or differing keycodes. Only about 2 or 3 services total would even come up. The Database is unfortunately propritory and required Nortel to get in and re-sync the two pieces.

They said it happened because of two things... the configuration tool didn't successfully complete the configuration due to issues in the log file from version 4.2 They said this was the first time that they had the logfile not refresh itself on upgrades. Hence when we tried to use the configuration utility it failed because it saw some issue from the 4.2 installation and didn't successfully complete.

ETAS had it up and working in about 5 minutes.

Sounds like you changed the IP address or addresses on the new 5.0 server after you loaded! If this is the case you need to run server setup and configuration again. Choose the correct Ip address for the CLAN/ELAN, click OK. After the server is reconfigured. Reboot, and watch your new server take off!!!

Top three reasons why NBNM_Service won't start;
1. IP Addresses for CLAN and ELAN on system do not match those of 'Server Setup Configuration'. Re-run utility.
2. Network Card binding order is incorrect. CLAN must be before ELAN. OnWin2K goto Network&Dial-up Connections, Advanced,Advanced Settings,Adapters&Bindings,Connections
3. Two versions of 'nbnmsrvc.exe' are running. Use Task Manager to kill.

Sorry for not responding so soon. We have the correct IP addresses on the new Symposium 5.0 server. We are running Windows 2003 and we are still experiencing the same problemas described above. We will escalate this problem with ETAS.

Thank you all for your help.

Make sure that the server application CD that you have is revision 4A. If it is 3A it will not work on Server 2003. I would double check the IP addresses in the Symposium Database with that of Windows!

Let me know what you fine out!!
