Hi,
Got a wierd thing here.
Win NT 4.0 Server with Arcserve 2000.
The backup ran last night and the only error messages were some open files that could not be opened due to sharing violation. This morning we wanted to do a test restore and in our groups folder there were a lot of folders that were missing (or were not visible) when I tried to do a restore by session.
So I merged the tape and the result was the same, folders still missing.
Then I did another backup with another account (full domain admin rights) and still I could not see all the folders in the groups folder.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
GSC

I only looked in the "Restore by session" window. There I only saw the folders from A to E. The rest of it (from F to Z was not visible).
I can not do the restore anything from F to Z because these folders are not visible.

Thanks,
GSC

I have only noticed this to happen when the job crashes (no errors) or it fails with "unrecoverable data error". Therefore, all folders after a certain letter will not show up.

Also, if you merge a tape, sometimes it takes a while to populate the database, I find that exiting Manager and going back in and expanding shows more data.

DB corruption maybe, but you need to verify what data is actually on the tape.

Run a Scan and configure it under options to Log All Activity. The job log will contain a list of everything on the tape.

Thanks for the input. I just ran a couple of test backups and changed some settings in options and it is working now.

Cheers

Common sence is not so common anymore

GSC,

Can you tell me what you did to fix? Cause I got the same problem, missing folders, while restoration.

Thanks
