Folder - Subfolders Request

If you right click on a folder in windows and select properties, you get shown how many files and subfolders there are.

Can i achieve the same effect through VB without physically visiting each and every folder below the start folder?

If so, can you give me an example or point me in the right direction?

How do you think Explorer does it when you select properties?

The issue is i am dealing with a server over 200miles away (slight speed issue) so i was wondering if there was a quicker way of doing it. DeltaFlyer

The point is that if even the writers of the OS can't do it without physically drilling down through the folders, it is unlikely that there is a method of gathering that info without doingexactly the same.
