Hi Guys, we want to backup some data using DFS.

we have 1 drive / Share on 1 server which we want to replicate on the same server but on a different drive. is there anyway to automate this ??

I'm not sure if that's possible (replication locally), but you do need enterprise version of windows server to have two DFS roots on a single server.

Thanks,
Andrew

DFS alone cannot be used to backup data. It only replicates it to another server/drive so then it can be backed up by tape. For instance if someone on the source server deletes a bunch of data that wasn't intended those deletion of files will be replicated to the other DFS server. So if someone screws up it gone gone on both ends.
