I have set up a GPO for My Documents folder redirection. It is working fine on the desktops, but in Terminal Server/Citrix. Windows 2000 server and Citrix Metaframe 1.8. It is a Windows Small Business Server 2003 AD enviornment.

I get event ids 101: Failed to perform redirection of folder My Documents. The new directories for the redirected folder could not be created. The folder is configured to be redirected to \\%HOMESHARE%%HOMEPATH%, the final expanded path was \\%HOMESHARE%%HOMEPATH%. The following error occurred:
The specified path is invalid.
and event id 1000:
Windows cannot process extension Folder Redirection ProcessGroupPolicy. Return value (0xa1).

I would really like to redirect the My Documents in Citrix as well as from desktops.

Any help is appreciated.

wile666,
It looks like your path is not correct.
When I redirect folders I do it like this:

\\servername\home\%username%

This (to me) does not look like a valid path:
\\%HOMESHARE%%HOMEPATH%

I would modify the GPO to reflect something to the "\\servername\home\%username%" path instead of the current configuration.

You can check your path by simply going to your Citrix server and typing in that \\%HOMESHARE%%HOMEPATH% path in the run command.
It will probably come back with an invalid path message as well.

Hope that helps.

I tried running it both ways in Citrix and neither work. %homeshare%%homepath% gives me a Remote Application runtime Error stating that the 'admin' entry is missing from the c:\documents and settings\admin\application data\icaclient\appsrv.ini file.

When I tried \\servername\home\%username%, I get a message that says \\burksbs\home\admin The network name cannot be found. If I substitute "users" for home (which is the name of the share) I get the same Runtime error as above.
%homeshare%%homepath% works in XP and 2003 without a hitch.

wile666,
Here is how I would try to resolve this issue.

Make sure you are adding the home mapping within Active Directory.

If you browse to your test user in ADUC (Active Directory Users and Computers) and double-click on the user...you will see the "profile" tab which is for local desktops or outside of a terminal server env.

But if you look right above that, you will see the "Terminal Services Profile" tab which includes the mapping to a roaming profile and a home directory. Specify a drive letter mapping "usually H or W" and do your mapping \\servername\sharename\%username%. Click "OK" and it will close out.

Then go to your GPO and to your folder redirection configuration and choose the "Target Folder Location" to state "W:\". This will automatically point them to the mapped drive you specified in the Terminal Services Profile mapping.

That should do it.

Hope that helps.
