Hello

I am looking for a way to achieve the following:

I have a folder on a shared drive on the server which we want to allow certain users access but only between certain times.

My knowledge around the system is improving and I'm familier with setting permissions on folder, group policy etc.

I would be grateful for some guidance not the sollution.

Thank you

Are the users only on your network during the times you are trying to limit them to? If so, you can use "Logon Hours" in their AD account properties located on the "Account" tab. This prevents them from even logging in to your domain unless it is within this time allotment. You would then need to use GPO's to force user log off after your specified time.

Hi TechyMcSe2k

The time limits may not be the case as users visit a premises, access thier accounts, use the folder concerned and then return to their own office later.

So there is a possibility they would need access outside a set time.

Thank you

So you would like users to be able to access folders between certain times but not using time limits? Can you elaborate?

Yes, that is correct.

The persons accessing the folders will be at a certain location between certain times, after that, they could be in another officer anywhere and have access to the network.

In the latter part, "after that, they could be in another officer anywhere and have access to the network" we do not want access allowed to the folders during this time.

Hope that makes sense

Create them a seperate account for logging in at the remote site that has access to those folders and then set time limits on those accounts. Prevent access to those folders with thier current logins utilizing NTFS or/and even EFS.

Hello all,

Does anyone know if it's possible to grant access to a network share only if the user is mapping to that share from a paticular computer.

I basically want only users that logon to computer name (JoesPC) to be able to access the share

Thank you !!

That sounds like an excellent suggestion so we will run with that.

Thank you

and yes IAMINFO, there is a LogOn To Tab in the same location where you can specify the computer taht they are allowed to log on to.
