I have a problem where every time I boot up a folder opens up showing the contents and I am trying to get this to stop. Any ideas?

What folder is this? Have you scanned for viruses? Spyware?

Good spyware scanner spybot...

Also, check the startup tab on the msconfig program (start>run>msconfig, click OK). Uncheck anything you don't need running at bootup on this list.

P.S. Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

Hi

its the Nero folder...have run Spybot Search and Destroy, BPS Spyware/Adware remover, ran trend micro's online antivirus scanner and used my own computer's installed version of Norton. Running MSCONFIG doesnt work and gives an error...any thoughts?

Maybe you have not installed MSCONFIG (or Startup CPL or a similar program) ?

I'm sorry, this is 2000, there is no msconfig, my bad...

Please give the full path to the folder that is opening up...

Also, check your startup folder for anything weird, as well as HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSION\RUN in the registry.

Is the folder, or its shortcut, in your Startup folder? Is so, that could be the cause.
