folder access denied

hi dears
one of my folder is corrupted or may be someone apply security on it
now it is not opening, even copying
and message come
access denied
is their any way to access these folder


early reply is highly appreicated

Login as administrator and take ownership of the folder on the security tab. once you have ownership you can apply the correct permissions to access the folder. Of course this is assuming you have NTFS partition which is the default when installing XP.



Right click on the folder and go to properties. Click on security tab. Then click on advanced then click on owner tab and reset to administrator. Check the box to replace on all sub containers also.

Sounds like an "Ownership" issue, but also look at Encryption or bad areas on the disk.

To access the Security Tabs, turn off "Simple File Sharing" in Folder Options/ View, or try Safe Mode.

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right click your Drive icon/ Properties/ Tools/ Error Checking.

DEAR I HAVE SEE THERE IS NOT ANY SECURITY TAB IN PROPERTY OF THE FOLDER AND THE FOLDER IS BASICALLY MY DOCUMENT I HAVE WINDOW XP PRO WHERE I ATTACHED THIS DISK

THERE IS ONLY GENERAL, SHARE AND CUSTOMIZE TAB ONLY

THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE

GO to my computer. Right click on the C: drive and go to properties. For file system type does it say NTFS or FAT/FAT32 I doubt it. If it doesn't I would convert it to NTFS.

From a DOS box window type

convert C: /FS:NTFS

After it reboots and converts you should have a security tab.

Did you try this?

Are you using NTFS, if not, you are using the FAT32 file system and there will be no security tabs.
