FileMaker Help file says that "FMP-CurrentRecordNumber" generates a relative number showing the record's place in the found set. I have put this code both into my pages and in a filed in my database, but it only generates the numbers one time, and when sorting with different values the number shown is not correct.

What I want? I want to rank data by different values, and instead of manually typing 1, 2, 3, 4 and so on for each sorted list - I want this to happen automaticly. It shall always count from 1 and descending no matter what the sort values are.

Anyone?

To assist you, I think I need to understand your issue a little more clearly.

Are you looking at the FMP-CurrentRecordNumber as a field on your layout? Is this the problem or is it sort this field?

You mentioned " each sorted list ". Are you doing a find and wanting your results sorted?

I tested what I think you might want and if you define a calculation field =Status( CurrentRecordNumber) and be sure the calculation is unstored, when you perform a find. The Status( CurrentRecordNumber) updates itself to it's new position. If it is stored it does not update itself. If this isn't your answer, give me a little more detail.

I hope this helps!

Hi Marty

It's exactly what I needed. I tried the unstored function - and it worked!

Thank you a lot :)

Hi again, Marty

Nope, did'nt work. Well, yes - in the database it self, but on the web page it sorts wrong.

You can check it out at click on "Leauge Board" and then sort on the headers.

I simply uses [FMP-Field: Row] in the "This" field.

You lost me on the web stuff. I haven't worked with it at all yet.

I sounds like a refresh problem though. Maybe someone experienced with web publishing can better answer the question.

Sorry!

Marty

I got looking at your website again and it appears to me that the Total Score, Wins and ATT sort correctly but the last column does not. Could this be a sort script problem?

Marty

If I understand your problem correctly. You want to query the information when you first click on "League Board" which will give you a default sort order in which the "This" colum is the =Status(CurrentRecordNumber). When you click any one of the sortable headers you want that particular colum to sort, but you want the =Status( CurrentRecordNumber)"This" to stay the same as the orignal default sort. Is this correct?
