Hey, I cleared the CMOS from this one computer I had, but then when I rebooted, the floppy drive LED stays on forever nonstop, and when I type A:/, it doesn't recognize the prompt or disk inside the drive.
Why?

HelP!

I would first try to scan for any known viruses. The light staying on like you said could very well be an indication of a virus. Depending on what brand of machine you have if it isn't a clone, you could run a diagnostic test on the drive itself by using a bootable diagnostic disk. I have a Dell and it came with it's own bootable diagnostic CD. Otherwise you may just want to purchase a new floppy drive which could be a lot cheaper and less stressful.

The floppy drive l.e.d. constantly on, often indicates the ribbon cable has been connected the wrong way round. Also, having cleared the settings, have you checked that the A: drive is shown as the correct type/size (1.44Mb etc) in the BIOS?

I agree with GØAOZ.

The most common cause of the floppy disk light being on constantly and the floppy drive not working is that the ribbon cable is on upside down.

Make sure the red stripe on the cable is aligned with pin 1 on the floppy drive.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
