Just bought a new used computer and tried to get into the CMOS to detect the floppy drive since upon bootup it said a drive: none. When pressing ESC or DEL key it asks for current password which I don't know what the old users had as a password. How can I get into change the a drive? Please help.

Should be a header on the M/B marked clear. Usually very near the battery. Pull the jumper and let the cmos drain down for 30 minutes or so. On next power up, it should kick into setup, since the date will revert back to dead battery default. You'll have to reset anything not a default value.
Did you get your documentation? Ed Fair

Find your motherboard manufacturer and model number. Go to motherboards.org and use the mobot search to find your board. This will give you links to find and download your motherboard manual. I have always found what I am looking for here. You will get information on where the jumper for resetting the password is.
Good luck and let me know if you can't find it.

Find the documentation on your motherboard, it should tell you the manufacturer and the model number. Also, look through the manual and it should have a page that will show you exactly where the jumper is to clear the CMOS.

To clear the CMOS, make sure that you disconnect the power cord. If you have 2 pins, short the two pins with a jumper for 10 secs then pull the jumper and return it back to the default position.
If you have 3 pins, move the jumper pin from the default position, jumpered 2 and move over to pins 2-3. Wait 10 secs then move back to default position 1-2.
Turn power back on and you should get an error message indicated by beeps to run setup for CMOS. You will then need to make the BIOS settings at this point.

I think that removing the battery for a short time, and replacing it will accomplish the same effect as claearing the jumpers. No?

You're right. If it has a removable battery there won't be any battery disconnect header. But there might still be a clearPW pins. Too many possibilities to cover in a forum.
Best bet always is to have documentation. It is a starting point. Ed Fair
