Hello

Can anyone help me?

I have just replaced the flopy drive on my PC. The floppy drive is powered by the PSU and is connected to the motherboard. However, the problem I have is that as soon as the PC is switched on the flopy drive light is continually on. When I insert a floppy disk I am tld that the driv eis not recognised. Can anyone help?

the cable thast u have inserted is wrong. So plz check it out.

yes, cable is not orientated correctly. Look where it connects on the motherboard and on the drive. You'll see a 1 or a 34 or both. The colored stripe on the cable goes on the same side as the 1, or opposite of the 34.

If you had the cable all the way out for the swap you also need to verify that the drive is on the end closest to the cut and twist.
Either end backwards can cause the problem.
The cut and twist part of the ribbon is closest to pin 1 if you were to get a cable manufactured wrong, which sometimes happens.
You can also have the pin one connectors oriented correctly but the connector off by a pin or a row, which has also given the result.

You almost certainly have a cable problem.
Try connecting the cable by twisting the FLOPPY DISC end round & re inserting it into the FLOPPY DRIVE. If this does NOT correct the problem you almost certainly need to replace the FLOPPY DISC cable.
