I have a report that lists every order for a certain period of time that the user chooses. The report also lets the user select only a certain customer. When the report is run it then sorts the product(engines) by the model number. (All model numbers are grouped together) Is there some way to get a sub-total for each model number? The problem is that there is always a different number of models, or sometimes none at all. One time the report is run there may be 5 of a certain type of engine, and the next time only 1, depending on what the customer ordered. How would I set this up? Any ideas? Thanks a bunch.

Brad,

If the model numbers are already grouped together, put the following code in its group footer: =Count([model number]).

Thanks for the help, but I wish it were that simple. Maybe it could be that simple and I am just not realizing it. The report just lists all of the models in one column, labeled "Model" Basically, the user selects a customer, then enters a date range that they want to see for that customer. Once the report is run, the results are just sorted in order of model number, effectively grouping all of a certain type of engine together. This is why I have no idea how to get subtotals. Do I have run some other type of query for every single model of engine and then put these in a report? How can I do this?

Look in Access Help for "Sorting and Grouping". You will want to create a group footer for Model, placing the above-mentioned code in that footer. And, if you put the same code in the Report footer, you will get a grand total of all models for that customer......

Thanks, it works great. It is fun to learn new stuff and actually see it work!
