How do you edit the screensaver logo that floats around on Aloha touchscreen terminals? My dealer has it set up so it switches back and forth from my restaurant logo, Aloha's logo, Radiant's logo, and last but not least HIS POS dealership logo. Mine is the only logo that should be on the screensavers. I know in the BOH computer the Aloha BMP folder has four logo folders. logo1 (my logo), logo2 (Aloha's logo), logo3 (HIS logo), and logo11 (Aloha's logo, same as logo2.) Do I only need to edit these files on the BOH computer or do I have go into each terminal manually and change the screensavers?

I have one follow up question.
For those of you who know about Aloha BOH Gift Card manager (NOT eCard), what is a fair price for the key to use this feature? My dealer was quite adamant about eCard when I bought Aloha and seemed quite offended when I declined the eCard offer. We simply don't sell enough gift cards to justify paying the $300 for activation plus $75 a month for this service. For the Gift Card Manager feature, he quoted me $1500, which I think is ridiculous. He also told me I am the first Aloha customer he has ever had that requested the GC manager. Is $1500 about right? If so, I'll stick to keeping a GC book. Thanks in advance for your help!

You can go to the back of house and edit the files or simply replace them. Then do a restart of the foh with the refresh data etc.

As for the gift card thing. Unless your selling a lot of gift cards it will not pay for it self. The logic of gift cards is that only 80% are used, but with that said, you have to sell so many to make up for the software costs, the card costs and the residual monthly costs. So if you do the math, you have to sell a lot of gift cards to make up that price. The only thing about gift certificates are counterfeit ones. But if the customer is going to counterfeit your gift cert. then they are going to rob you one way or another, and having a card system isn't going to save you on that. If you are one location then I like your idea of the book, simple, cheap, effective. Your dealer is a sales man and makes a lot of moula in the form of residuals from the ecard sale. That is why he was adiment about selling it to you. Don't fall for it. Do the math, I did it and I think the break even was in the neighborhood of 10K in gift card sales!

How do you do the refresh data part? I have the same problem, and I can't for the life of me get a different logo to show up! I assume that you have to delete, edit, or replace from the BOH server in Aloha\bmp, because I tried BOOTDRV\BMP, and got nothing. Also, where do you change the timeout setting for the floating screensaver?

thanks!

The logos are logo.bmp, logo1.bmp, logo2.bmp, etc.. and are stored in the Aloha(QS)\BMP folder on the server and terminals. If you delete or change them (Do this on the server), then you must do a refresh. Aloha Manager > Utilities > Refresh.
