flashdrive for swap file?

apart from "don't remove it" while using it,
could i use it for a swap file? is it not too slow, or would it be soon damaged? I don't know the latency/response times, etc, it would also interest me how it is built.

Not sure, but I don't believe you can create a page file on removable media.
Flash is slower than most HDD's.
Could damage the flash though - they have a finite no. of read/write cycles they can go through before failing.
Cost per GB is higher than a HDD.

It's not easy to get the full specs of flash memory. Occasionally these are available on a manufacturers website. They seem to be especially shy when it comes to true performance and life times.

Note thet value flash typically uses multi-level chips that have much shorter lives - only hundreds of writes, it's been claimed.
If possible, add more RAM. The results would be better.
