Can someone give me step by step overview and direction to get Flash ver 1.7 with a 8X24 ver DR 5 back online. Now, when all calls go unanswered they are answered by ext 21 mail box. ex. Hi this is Pam and I'm .............yada yada yada. Apparently there is no greeting. We want Auto Attn. to answer and give option of dialing an ext number. All was working and maybe was lost to power failure. Is there a sample message to direct callers to a company directory?
Any, and all help will be greatly appreciated and thanks for your help in the past, you folks are GREAT !!!

Go into Feature 983 and login with your password or if paswrd is at default try 120000 or 1020000.
Press AA, Lines, enter line 1, see if it says answer yes or no....if it says yes then reboot vmail by unplugging it for a minute.

I will check that out later today and let you know the results. Thanks for your input.

I went there and checked the lines and they were set to yes.
I shut it down for 4 - 5 minutes then brought it back up. The results were the same it still is answered by ext 21 after several rings. Operator is set to not availible.

Thanks

Go into feature 982 and enter the operator password. The default password is OPERATOR. Hit NEXT until you see Answer Lines: and make sure that it is set to YES. Also Check the call forward no answer timer of ext 21 and make sure that is equal or greater than the answer lines timer in feature 983.

You didn't say how many rings before it should answer.
If the rings before AA Answer are set HIGHER than your
call forward no ans. delay at station 21, the incoming
calls will go straight into that mailbox IF set 21 is
a ringing phone. ie- If AA rings are set at 4, and set 21
rings on incoming calls and has CFNA to mailbox after 3
rings, this is exactly what will occur. Hope it helps!

Well thanks to all who have replied so far. Now it is up and running and we still have a problem with ext 21 answering some calls. This weekend I made a call and the AA answered and I left a message for ext 33. I hung up and called right back...........it rang 1 time if that maybe no rings and ext 21 answered the call.
This machine is a flash 2 v 1.7 (1 port) on a 8x24 DR5 which is ext 36 and the receptionist is ext 24. The lines were set to no supervision............is this correct? This deal is driving me CRAZY..........but it is a short drive anyway.

Set the lines to Supervised so that Vmail does not hang onto the line when finshed.
By default ext 21 is the reception set and all sorts of programming rely on that set so if you have made it now 24 then check all programming in KSU and Vmail and change 21 to 24.

Check to see if ext 21 has forward busy to vmail in admin programming under capabilities and if it does change it to none.
Go to ext 21 and make sure it is not forwarded to vmail and if it is hit cancel.
If the lines are assigned to ext 21 and the phone is forwarded to vmail then there is the conflict with AA and the mailbox of 21, KSU says well I am told to go to AA but also to mailbox 21 since I ring at 21 and I am forwarded and gets confused.
I hope this helps.

What did you do to fix the problem? If you changed something in the configuration for line 1, look at the other lines. It sounds like you are just rolling over to other lines that are still not configured properly.

Commsguy,

I'm not sure what I did to get it back up.

Curley Cord,

The lady at ext 21 needs to have VM. So I still need to forward on busy or no answer.

Phdude,

So far all of the message are correct in other words, you do need to make sure in VM programming(feat. 983/120000<by thwe way the password is 120000 becuase you are using 2 digit extenstions, just an fyi, if you were using 3 digit extensions the password would be 1020000>)..you need to make sure all of the lines are set to answer in VM programming(feature 983) From VM programming press AA, then press Admin LINES, then select the line nummber 1-whatever lines you want answered by AA. You have to set the ringing for each line. AND you HAVE to make sure that the ring time is LESS than or EQUAL to the FORWARD that is in regualr system programming(not voice mail programming). Other wise what will happen is each time you call in you will sometimes get the automated attendant and at other times the persons voice mail on whichever extension has its ringin set lower than AA. To be on the safe side make all of the lines say, 1 thru whatever, in voice mal programming answer on 3 rings...and make sure in system programming Feature**266344/266344 under terminals and sets that the Forward NO answer is set to the voice mail extension and that the FORWARD DELAY is SET HIGHER than 3 rings. If it is not this way for all of the extensions that have voice mail assigned to them, you will experience the roblem you are having.... I hope this helps...
