I attempted to download Flash 4 half a dozen times and each time the demonstration movie failed to appear. I have a removable hard drive, so I tried to download Flash 4 onto an old spare 2Gb drive. It worked first time. I then duplicated all the Internet Options settings from the old drive onto my newer drive, and also disabled my VirusScan, but Flash 4 still won't download and install.
I'm using Windows98. I know it's nothing to do with that, because my smaller drive accepts the download without any problem. Are there any other configurations or programmes on my drive which I could adjust to make Flash 4 download and install properly?
Any help with this, or tales of similar experiences would be appreciated. Thankyou. JT

I have the same problem. It worked fine with IE 4.0 but I just upgraded to IE 5.0 and now I have exactly the same problem as you when I attempt to re-plugin. I emailed the Art Barn, but they were unable to give any other advice than

I got it working, but you need to first:
Go to the Macromedia web site under:
Director
Technotes
Install on Demand
Download and autoinstall the Active-X plugin for Flash.
rgrant,
Your advice was useful. I'd never heard of Director's Technotes, and although I didn't succeed straight away, I have found the Technotes very interesting. Anyway, I am pleased to announce that the Shockwave Flash Player is now functioning on this PC. I uninstalled IE5 and then downloaded it again. At first the only difference I noticed was that all references to Java, on the Advanced tab of Internet Options had disappeared. Then I found that Flash Player was working. Very mysterious. I'm not sure where the Java things have gone, or whether they were necessary for anything else. At the moment though, everything seems to ticking over well enough. Thanks for your input. JT
