At least that is what I've read. I have Illustrator 10 and Flash MX. I've been trying to import an AI file to Flash but I keep getting the error message:"Part or all of the file may be missing"
I've saved the file as EPS version 6 and it still isn't all there. Do I need to ungroup the paths in Illustrator or what am I missing?
thnx

I have not done any reading on this topic, so if I am missing something please excuse me, but from experience I know that if you save your Illustrator file as version 8 ( not sure if you can do that in 10, I only have 9 here) then import, you will not see an error.

As I recall there is an export .swf (or .fla) feature in Illustrator 8 and up. It has been some time since I used it however. I know it was there in 8, but can not personally confirm other versions.

Following excerpt comes from Adobe on Illustrator 10 (
Enhanced Macromedia Flash (SWF) Export
Macromedia Flash (SWF) files are used for vector-based animations and vector graphics across the Web.
Illustrator 10 offers new options for exporting Flash (SWF) files, so you can create Web-ready animations
and graphics directly from your Illustrator drawings.

As I recall it's File>Export.

Good luck,

Wow JT that almost looked like you knew what you were doing!

I've tried saving the file as an Illustrator AI version 8 and then importing it to Flash but I end up missing most of the file. I've tried saving as versions 3 thru 8 but the same thing happens. I've also saved it as an eps at different versions which older ones like 4 I can import to Flash without the error message, but part of the file is still missing.
I've also "saved for web" as a SWF file and then imported that into Flash which looks better but there are still major parts missing.
Has anyone had this problem?
What an I missing here?
Thanks

Have you tried converting all text to outlines?

Also pattern fills always used to muck up the files for me when exporting to Flash.
Exporting data that Flash doesn't support will Give Flash an upset tummy when it tries to import.

Moe: It could have been a real ugly situation, but luckily I managed to shoot him in the spine.

barehug,
Have you tried converting all text to outlines?
I'm not using any text, so that isn't the problem.

Also pattern fills always used to muck up the files for me when exporting to Flash.
I've noticed that when I set the stroke weight to anything less than .25 that Flash doesn't notice the difference. Also if I have a fill with no stroke than sometimes Flash doesn't see it at all.
So I don't know what to do about it.
